About Us
TexTTan Industries is a fiber extraction and manufacturing start-up business located at the East London Industrial Development Zone in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa.
Who we are
TexTTan draws extensive expertise from R&D in the materials sciences, agro-processing, textiles, financial services, and engineering as well as more than 100 years of combined team experience in the industrial economy across Europe, North America, Asia, and Africa. We combine indigenous knowledge with cutting-edge science and innovation to produce high-quality fiber-based products for local, regional, and international markets. We are continuously innovating with hemp and leveraging local and international partnerships for co-development.
What we are solving
Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions
Addressing the critical challenge of human-driven greenhouse gas emissions that have disrupted businesses and communities worldwide. Natural fibers offer a powerful opportunity to accelerate the transition to a cleaner, more productive global economy - one that is decarbonized and sustainable for the future.
Whole-Plant Innovation
Transforming every part of crops and agricultural residues - which can make up 40% of total biomass - into high-value, high-performance products across diverse industries, driving innovation but also creating multiple revenue streams for farmers.
Revitalizing and Diversifying Our Region
The revitalization of South Africa’s textile industry, focusing on the Eastern Cape province – a region with a rich history as a national textile hub. Despite possessing many essential resources, the industry has faced significant decline over the past 20 years, calling for a renewed effort to restore its former strength.
Consumer Demand for Decarbonized Products
A rising demand for high-quality, low-carbon products and innovative processes to replace synthetic, petroleum-based, and other CO2-heavy materials. This need spans industries including construction, textiles, mobility, and energy, driving the push for cleaner, more sustainable alternatives.
Bridging Africa’s Capability Gaps
A shortage of local skills and infrastructure in decarbonized industrial processing and manufacturing limits Africa’s competitiveness on the global stage and future-proofing. Growth depends on building on existing local industrial capabilities while leveraging unique strengths and strategic international partnerships to create a future-ready industrial landscape.
Building Competitive Localization
Local industrialisation efforts linked to regional and global markets to contribute to our country’s economic development and growth objectives including reindustrialisation, private sector investment, capacity development, and job creation.
What we stand for
